At only 22-years of age, Los Angeles-based Batson writes the most poignant and deeply personal lyrics, matched with a vocal soulfulness beyond his years. Drawing from relationships with friends and partners and his own inner conflicts, Batson pens heart-wrenching stories from his dark and unpredictable life experiences, thoughts and emotions. With that rare ability for provocative lyricism, Batson masterfully pairs his words with melodic hooks and instrumentals that unveil an authenticity and talent that are not just refreshing, but also relevant.
Growing up in Florida before moving to Los Angeles, Batson pulls from a diverse list of influences – Donny Hathaway, Marvin Gaye, Nas, Jay-Z, Kings Of Leon and Coldplay, amongst others. With “a dash of R&B tinged Bon Iver-ish production,” (MTV Buzzworthy) Batson exemplifies his genre-defining style with several standout tracks from We Got Los Along The Way EP: “Wintertime,” “Never Coming Back,” and “Passenger Seat.”
Within weeks of releasing his official music video for "Never Coming Back," the YouTube views reached 400,000+.
