Jesse Leach

Jesse Leach (Killswitch Engage) is a Grammy nominated, American musician and lyricist based in New York, best known for his role as the current lead vocalist of the metalcore band Killswitch Engage. Lending guttural screams and melodic choruses to the group’s signature sound, Leach also remains involved with the projects Time of Grace and The Empire Shall Fall. A former member of the blues-y, stoner-rock band Seemless, which showcased Leach’s soulful vocals, other past projects include the melodic, hardcore band Nothing Stays Gold and the dark, hardcore-metal hybrid, Corrin.

Born July 3, 1978, Leach came of age amid the local hardcore and punk scene of Providence, Rhode Island during the 1990’s. Here, the thrash of heavy metal began to meld with hardcore to create a new sound that would influence many bands including the founding members of Killswitch Engage. Also home to a thriving slam poetry scene and hip hop community, these formative years in Providence played a key role in influencing the writer and performer Leach would become. Industry greats such as Joe Strummer, Bob Marley, Chuck D (Public Enemy), H.R.(Bad Brains), and John Joseph (Cro-Mags) all helped further shape him as an artist.
