The Paper Kites Share "St. Clarity" Official Music Video; Announce Headline Tour

Australian indie-folk outfit The Paper Kites share the official music video for “St. Clarity,” the first Australian single from their charming debut album, set for release later this year.

Produced by ARIA winning producer Wayne Connolly, “St. Clarity” kicks off with a lone banjo before moving into a gorgeous blend of harmonies, music boxes and horns. “At its heart, the song is about the beauty of finding clarity in a situation,” says frontman Sam Bentley of the new single. “Seeing things from a perspective that’s clear – from an angle you haven’t seen before.”

Two-time ARIA winning director Natasha Pincus, who also helmed the celebrated video for Gotye’s Grammy-winning track “Somebody That I Used To Know,” directs the official music video for “St. Clarity.” With a stunning visual, the video delicately showcases the song’s alluring textures.

This October, the quintet will cross waters for their North American debut, supporting City And Colour. The Paper Kites will provide support from Atlanta, GA to Oakland, CA before heading out for their own headline tour. See full dates below.

Last month, The Paper Kites released Woodland + Young North EP Box Set (Nettwerk Records), a wonderfully inspired collection of layered, earthy instrumentations paired with beautiful vocal harmonies. The standout tracks from their debut EP Woodland - “Bloom” and “Featherstone” (as prominently featured in the season 8 finale of Grey’s Anatomy) - have generated over 6 million combined YouTube views.

The band began with Sam Bentley and Christina Lacy playing local cafes in their hometown of Melbourne, Australia. When invited to play a local festival, they decided it was time to expand by adding David Powys, Sam Rasmussen and cousin Josh Bentley. “Sam and I worked together in a warehouse, Josh was my cousin and I liked his drumming…we liked David because he could sing and were big fans of his other band. It was never really an official ‘let’s start a band’ conversation, we just kind of fell into it,” says Bentley.

In the coming weeks, stay tuned for more information.
