The Once Announce International Headline Tour

[Departures] is a beautiful record” - Exclaim

2015 Juno Nominees The Once have announced a Spring headline tour starting on March 11 in Montreal, Canada and ending on May 9 in Birmingham, UK. The Newfoundland-based folk trio spent the majority of 2014 supporting label-mate and friend Passenger on his worldwide tour, but this marks their first international headline dates.

The Once -- Geraldine Hollett, Andrew Dale and Phil Churchill -- received a JUNO nomination for their 2014 album Departures in the category of “Roots & Traditional Album of the Year: Group," marking their second career nomination in this category. Their story began five years ago, when the band released their 2009 self-titled, award-winning debut, which was funded by a stranger at a show who was so impressed that he offered them $5,000 to make the album. Since then, the band has been quietly making a name for themselves in their native Canada, having collected a trio of Canadian Folk Music Awards, been named Newfoundland & Labrador Art Council’s Artist of the Year and earned the aforementioned JUNO nomination for their 2011 album Row Upon Row of the People They Know. They caught the attention Nettwerk CEO Terry McBride at the Vancouver CelticFest, who offered them a label deal shortly after.
