State Radio Adds Matt Embree (RX Bandits) To The Tour; Band Launches Advocacy Site For Death Row Inmate Troy Davis

State Radio recently announced that Matt Embree (from Rx Bandits) will be joining the band on their upcoming “State Of Troy Tour,” which kicks off March 10 in Denver at the Odgen Theatre.

In 2009, lead singer Chad Stokes, wrote a song about death row inmate, Troy Davis. The song, titled “State Of Troy,” was lent to Amnesty International USA for a short, hard-hitting web video about the plight of Davis (watch it HERE). Davis has been on death row for 18 years and has received three stays of execution, twice coming within 24 hours of his death, despite a strong claim of innocence that has never been heard in a court of law.

To continue to raise awareness of the opposition to Davis’ execution, State Radio, along with Amnesty International and HeadCount, have created “Take Action For Troy Davis,” an advocacy website to support Troy Davis. Visitors to the site have the opportunity to sign a petition to Georgia officials, send a message to Davis on death row and/or write a letter to their local paper. Upon doing so, supporters will receive two free, previously unreleased tracks from State Radio: “All My Possessions (Ode To Troy)” by Chad Stokes featuring Sierra Leone’s Refugee All Stars and “State of Georgia (Live at the Boston Pavilion)” by State Radio.

As with all State Radio tours, Calling All Crows (CAC)—the humanitarian organization started by Chad Stokes and his partner Sybil Gallagher--will be organizing pre-show service projects in partnership with local non-profit organizations along the tour. At each State Radio show, CAC will have buckets out for “Bringing Change to Women,” a campaign to raise money for women's empowerment programs around the world. Since December 2008, Calling All Crows has raised over $200,000 to empower Sudanese women and invested more than 10,000 hours of service in local communities across North America and Europe. http://callingallcrows.org
