Nicholas Krgovich (No Kids; P:ano) To Release Solo Debut 'On Sunset' October 7

“...melancholy yet propulsive soft rock that sounds like the midpoint between Dave Longstreth and Donald Fagen. You’d do well to listen to it.” — Stereogum

"It’s a polished, ambitious effort that puts melody and layered arrangements (created with composer Stefan Udell) at the forefront…” — Tiny Mix Tapes

Music savant (and NW1 client) Nicholas Krgovich, mostly known for his work with No Kids, Gigi and P:ano, will self-release his debut solo album On Sunset on October 7, 2014.

Having lived in Los Angeles for the past four years, On Sunset stands as a rich, widescreen tribute to a lost Los Angeles. Produced and mixed by John Collins (Destroyer, New Pornographers) and recorded by Colin Stewart (Black Mountain, Cave Singers), the album is a sweeping Technicolor extravaganza. In the tradition of experimental music masquerading as pop (Avalon, Cupid & Psyche '85, Steve McQueen), On Sunset is a lonely, glamorous, late-night answer to a city's seductive and endless sprawl.

Under the aforementioned monikers, the Canadian songwriter/multi-instrumentalist has been releasing a diverse and captivating array of music, starting with chamber pop debut, When It’s Dark and Summer (P:ano; 2002). Throughout, Nicholas has been relentless in his pursuit of perfect pop, with luminescent production that ripples off his evocative lyrics like sunlight glistening off a summer lake. Resplendent with strings, horns and sparse percussion, he strives to provide his audience with the complete musical experience.

Nicholas has toured extensively throughout North America, Europe and Asia with his various projects and has collaborated with artists such as Mount Eerie, Nite Jewel and Amber Coffman of Dirty Projectors. He's also done a residency at the Banff Centre for the Arts and written a one-act musical for Vancouver’s Push Festival, as well as contributed songs to countless film and television productions.
