Family Of The Year's "Hero" Featured in 'Boyhood,' Film By Richard Linklater

Official Trailer For Boyhood, Featuring “Hero”

Hero” by Nettwerk Records’ Family Of The Year is featured in the groundbreaking masterpiece, Boyhood, a film by Richard Linklater.

Last week, Boyhood made headlines with its debut at specialty box office, grossing the second best numbers of the year following Wes Anderson’s The Grand Budapest Hotel. Filmed over short periods from 2002 to 2013, Linklater cast a child (Ellar Coltrane) as his protaganist and continues to build a story around him until he goes off to college. Rather than a documentary, the highly anticipated movie is a “complete, well-crafted character study,” (Entertainment Weekly).

“Everything in the movie is attached to something real,” filmmaker Richard Linklater recently told TIME. “It all kind of happened in some form or fashion. I wanted the same with the music. I wanted to hear, ‘I just broke up with my girlfriend and I was driving in a car and that song came on the radio and it made me feel like everything was OK. That means something to me, that somebody somewhere had an emotional experience with that song.”

Since they saw their Billboard radio chart debut, "Hero" reached #1 on the Triple A Top 30 Radio Chart, sitting Top 5 for a record-breaking four months. “Hero” also landed Top 10 at Alternative Radio. With the release of Loma Vista, Family Of The Year performed “Hero” on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, CONAN and Last Call With Carson Daly. Also, MTV2 added Family Of The Year as an “Artist To Watch” and USA Today featured the band in their “On The Verge” column. All this follows other emerging artist features with Entertainment Weekly, Billboard, Amazon, Interview Magazine and more.
