Peter Murphy Announces New Album 'Lion' Out June 3; Tour Starts May 22

Iconic frontman Peter Murphy will release his tenth solo album, Lion, on June 3, 2014. Lead single “Hang Up,” as well as the album pre-order, will be available on iTunes starting April 8. Record Store Day aficionados will have the opportunity to purchase an exclusive, limited edition 7” single featuring “Hang Up (Dub Mix)” and “I’m On Your Side” on April 19.

Produced by Youth (Killing Joke, The Verve), Lion is comprised of 11 tracks that possesses an elegant master of tone – bass heavy, stark, shimmering and symphonic. It sustains a heart-in-throat tension from start to finish.

In an interview with, Murphy describes Lion as “a mixture of stuff…almost like operas for the dispossessed. It's very romantic and very deep and emotional, quite symphonic in places, but then becomes, like, a rabble-rousing pirate sea shanty.”

Murphy spent much of 2013 on the road celebrating 35 of Bauhaus on his critically-acclaimed Mr. Moonlight Tour. With the upcoming release of Lion, Murphy is ready to turn his attention back to his solo work and will launch a 32-city North American tour starting May 22nd in Las Vegas and ending with two nights at LA’s Fonda Theatre on July 3rd and 5th.
