Seattle native, John Goodmanson is a highly successful Producer and Mixer who’s work includes some of the most influential indie and mainstream rock of the past two decades.
Like many producers, John started his music career playing in punk and rock bands in his youth, but with his first job interning, and later working at, The Music Source in Seattle he soon realized the studio was where his true calling was. In 1993 he opened John and Stu’s Recording Place in Seattle with Stuart Hallerman but later sold his share to pursue freelance work. Over his career John has worked with such influential and diverse artists as Death Cab For Cutie, Owl City, Sleater-Kinney, Blonde Redhead, The Von Bondies, Sepultura, Hed-PE, Wu-Tang Clan, Nada Surf and Los Campesinos.
John describes his perfect session as “a rah-rah team effort and everybody feels that they can try anything, like they want the technology to completely disappear and any idea that comes up we should be able to try in pretty short order”(eqmag.com). He mentioned in an interview with izotope.com that he gravitates towards “the band that wants to push the envelope on the next record. Often I’m more interested in their ambition than their past releases.”
