Rhys Fulber
Subtitle
Rhys Fulber is a musician, composer and producer who is most easily recognized for his contribution to industrial rock at its late 80’s conception, specifically in the bands Front Line Assembly and Delerium.
Born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia, Fulber's appreciation of music began at an early age. By the age of six, Fulber was playing the drums, and five years later, was already visiting recording studios and discovering punk rock and new wave artists (namely the Dead Kennedys and Pete Shelley's 1981 release, Homosapien). It was Shelley's work in particular that led to Fulber's father purchasing his young son a drum machine and synthesizer.
Shortly thereafter, Fulber met another local like-minded musician, Austrian Bill Leeb, which would result in a long and fruitful musical union culminating in the creation of the industrial outfit Front Line Assembly, who would issue countless releases. Front Line was asked to remix then label mates and alternative metal upstarts Fear Factory, which led to Fulber contributing keyboards and additional production to their genre defining Demanufacture album, culminating in another long relationship with the group as well as cementing his reputation in the metal scene. Fulber also collaborated on a side-project with Leeb, dubbed Delerium, who is best known for their 1997 global hit "Silence” featuring vocals by Sarah McLachlan, which rocketed to the top of the charts throughout Europe.
Fulber’s production career has been extremely varied and crosses genres regularly. He’s worked with such diverse artists as Josh Groban, P.O.D., Serena Ryder, Mudvayne, Mindless Self Indulgence, Paradise Lost and Yes. Fulber currently resides in Los Angeles and has his own fully self-contained recording studio in Van Nuys, CA.
