Hermitude

ARIA-chart topping duo Luke Dubber (Dubs) and Angus Stuart (El Gusto), aka Hermitude, were in Japan when COVID became a stark reality. Just making it back to Australia before the borders closed, they quietly slipped up to Angus’ childhood home just outside of the Blue Mountain town of Blackheath as the rest of the world went into lockdown. The two holed up together with a pared-back music setup: a Moog Matriarch, one other synth, and a laptop. This setup was a stark contrast to their previous recording studio, which came equipped with a recording room, live room, drum room, all with gear set up and at least ten synths to play around with. As a result, the new music is about finding one’s way, a creative spurt coinciding with a global lockdown, to find a new kind of homecoming. The latest recordings follow a rich catalog including debut album Hyperparadise (#38 on the ARIA Charts), Dark Night Sweet Light (Top 10 on Billboard’s Electronic Chart and features "The Buzz feat. Mataya and Young Tapz"), and Pollyanarchy Deluxe (includes features from Buddy & BJ The Chicago Kid, Vic Mensa, Bibi Bourelly, Electric Fields, and Haiku Hands, Daniel Bedingfield, Kimbra, Kameron, and Drew Love). Hermitude has toured the world with sold-out headline shows and festival performances at Lollapalooza, Splendour in the Grass, Groovin The Moo, Governor’s Ball, SXSW, Lightning In A Bottle, Laneway Festival, HARD Summer, Life Is Beautiful, Osheaga, and more. Most recently, "Hyperparadise" received a Tropkillaz remix, and its previous flip from Flume and GANZ was featured on EA Sports’ FIFA 2022 soundtrack.
